Shots using visual Effects:
Shot 2: This shot is where Phoebe is drowning in the sea, this is a visual effect because we have to use the screen to complete the shot, for our filming location is at Long Road College where there is no water or sea to use for the shot, therefore, we have to use the green screen, and make the shot even more realistic using Photoshop. (1)
Shot 3: This shot is where it shows the insides of Phoebe when she is gaining her powers after drowning. This is going to be a visual effect because we have to do colour correction - increase of red for insides and increase of blue for the ice effects travelling through the body, also we need to create the clip as well as add effects after. (2)
Shot 5: This shot is where Phoebe rides the deer in the shot. This is going to be a CGI effect for we need to create the deer and make the deer look realistic after it is created, we also have to make the deer look magical.
Shot 6: This shot is a close up of the deer's head and Phoebes face, riding the deer. This shot will have a visual effect involved in as far as the deer is a CGI effect.
Shot 7: This shot is a close up of Skye on the space whale, this involves a visual effect because of the space whale which is a visual effect and will also be a CGI effect.
Shot 8: This shot involves a visual effect for it has the space whale's whole body and also Skye riding the space whale involved. The space whale is a CGI effect which is a visual effect, and what makes it even more of a visual effect is that we need to make it look realistic, we may use Photoshop to do this.
Shot 9: This shot involves a visual effect for it has the Keenan riding the polar bear in it as a wide shot, This is a visual effect because we have a CGI which is the creation of the polar bear, and again need it to look realistic yet still mystical.
Shot 23: This shot has a visual effect because it is a shot of Phoebe blowing ice from her mouth. This will be a visual effect because it will involve movement of ice coming from her mouth, colour correction to make it look like ice, and also the green screen to allow this creation.

Production meeting - After Effects shoot (practise) #3
Script location:
The script location is in the college corridors when Phoebe, Skye and Keenan are all talking together about Phoebe belonging in the Ice Palace back home, and also the classroom again when Skye, Phoebe and Keenan are all talking to each other about the witch coming back. Another script location will be underwater when Phoebe is drowning during the flashback in shot 2. Another script location will be the field when there is a pan of the field where the characters are flying over. There will also be a location using the sky when Phoebe is flying on the deer, and also Skye on the space whale and Keenan on the polar bear.
Shoot location:
The shoot location of our script will be Long Road Sixth Form College, outside and inside. When filming outside we will be filming through the fire exit at the back door in F15, we will be filming in this location because it has a small track where trees hang over the path, which creates a pretty magical feel to the audience. We will also be here because there is also an open area right next to the path therefore we can also do the field scenes. When filming inside we will be filming in the corridors near the LRC, we will be filming here because it has lockers and also doors and openings plus the hall colours makes it clear that it is in a college, we will also use the classroom F15 for the classroom scene.
What went wrong?
During the practise filming that we took the main issue we had was the green screen and getting rid of the creases in the green screen, the other main issue we found that we had was keeping the prop and also the actor in similar position in each shot of movement ex. when trying to get me riding the deer.
What did you struggle with in terms of AE?
In terms of AE the main struggle we had was making it look realistic, this was hard because we had to move me on the deer from different photos, to make me look like I was riding the deer as the character Phoebe.
What do you need to learn?
- skills - techniques
We need to learn how to use the green screen correctly and make sure that there are no creases in the green screen because if there is then it makes it harder to edit in Photoshop. We also need to learn how to make all of the photos that we take then edit on Photoshop of us riding the creatures, look effective in premier pro and make it look like an actual film as if the animals are moving and also looking real at the same time.
What assets do you need?
- props - CGI - make up/costume
The assets that we need are CGI's when doing the deer, polar bear and also the space whale. We need costumes to make the characters look natural and plain which will only be jeans and a T-shirt etc. for we would like the characters to look ordinary. We are also going to have make - up so that it looks better on the camera and comes through a lot clearer. The main props that we are going to use are tables and chairs when the characters are sitting down at the table talking about the witch. We may also need props such as the creatures in models to get the photos and videos (shots) of.

Team production meeting - shot types #2
In the second team production meeting that we had we discussed shot types that we could use, and annotated our scripts to suit. We decided that we would mainly use my script to do the shot types, because we thought it would match up to the clip accordingly.

180 degree line design by me
This is the diagram of the 180 degree line rule when it comes to filming. The furthest from the writing side of the line you mustn't film on unless you show the rotation form one side of the screen to the other so that the scene change is clear, the reason for this is because if you skip from one side of the line to the other then the scene setting will flip and the characters will swap size which would confuse the audience and make it appear that the characters have moved on screen as shown in the boxes. The camera should stay on the correct side of the line because that way it shows all the movement and characters form one view.

Team production meeting #1
Date: 18/11/2013
Who's present: Christen Saptou, Shelby Lucier, Jade Gordon (me) - everyone.
Agenda: Script assessment, Script Choice, Ideas for redrafting.
In the meeting we discussed which story we was going to create into a clip or whether or not we were going to re-draft the script altogether and merge each script together which was our final choice the end. We talked about how we would do each script if we were to film that script and how we would add effects in. We talked about how we could benefit form each script and which script would offer the best ideas and story line, and which one we could add the best type of effects in. We discussed which powers we liked most in each story and which power we could add the most effects with. We also talked about the characters and which was our favourite in each story and how we could act in casting as each character. We spoke about the locations of filming that we could do.
In the end when we had to come down to a final decision we decided to merge our scripts together, meaning that we would have to re-draft. We spoke about ideas which we could use. We started to choose characters, the main character that we chose was Phoebe from Shelby's Script who will be casted by Shelby, we then chose the other characters who - Christen will star as the fire queen from Shelby's story and I will cast as Skye from Shelby's Script. We are also going to find a boy to cast as Ke'nan from Christen's story. We decided that we was having the voice-over of Phoebe in Shelby's script at the beginning, and also that we were having the flashback in Christen's story, because we liked the idea of the flashback, although we change the flashback storyline because it didn't match the main story that we were going to follow which is Shelby's - we changed it to it being to do with ice and fire rather than water. We are keeping to the dialogue in Shelby's script. We will have to use a green screen we figured because of the backgrounds that we are thinking of such as the ice palace etc.. The effects that we are going to use we thought could be that we are going to put the flashback in old style and also that we may shown the insides of the girl changing to ice when her powers are forming. We are going to show the impressiveness with the type of effects that we are going ot use we thought of and also the creative ideas.

Face Warp
The changes that I made to my face in the effect was using the drag tool which drags certain parts of your face, i had to change the brush size to do this though, to a larger size so that it was clearer to the audience. I dragged my eyebrows up so they became pointier, I alos dragged the teeth in the middle towards my lips to make them smaller and to make the fangs that i dragged away from my teeth seem long, the reason I dragged was to keep the point at the tip. I changed my face colour so that my face appeared paler. I added anchor points so that my face went back to normal at the end, I did this by adding 4 anchor points. first anchor point 0% opacity so face was normal, 2nd point 100% opacity so my face appeared warped, 3rd point 100% so face stayed warped up to this point, then 4th anchor point was 0% so my face went back to normal. In between each point is where muy face was forming/changing. The original footage was was filmed on photo booth. Then the footage was saved and Imported onto Adobe Effects. To start off I had to open the Liquify tab and use the warp tool to do all of the dragging. To do the face colour change open an adjustment layer and then use the pen tool and draw around the face and neck, leaving out the hair so that the colour didn't overtake the extras. I then had to open hue/saturation and also Curves, this all appears in a window at the side near Liquify. The curves changes the tone (light or darkness), you can change this around by curving the line on the grid. Saturation does the colour.
I alos had to feather the edges underneath the mask option under the film composition. I alos had to use a keyframe and change mask opacity, if you hold alt and click the keyframe on the Icon: mask opacity, this then brings up a variety of buttons, and if you click the squiggly line underneath mask opacity (pick whip), and drag the pick whip down to distort, it connects the timing up form the original to the adjustment layer. Then some writing will appear, I double clicked the writing and then added '/2' on the end, which halved all of the effects and made the video clearer and more effective. I then rendered the video.

X - Men Soundscape timeline
For sound the voice-over and the dialogue never overlap, because if this happened then you wouldn't be able to hear the person speaking, or none of the sound would be clear, because you would have two conversations overlapping. Music is good to have for sound, because it adds a nice tone to the clip, and in moments of silence the music keeps the tone going. Sound effects are good in a clip because it makes the action seem more realistic and also adds the the emotion that the audience feel, such as fear, or sadness. Dialogue is also good because it attracts the audience I.e If the audience was looking away they would hear the Dialogue and turn around. Voice-over would help establish the atmosphere of the clip as-well because it creates a sense of power and shows the audience that there is going to be a sense of power in the film. It also shows that there is going to be a hero or a higher up character in the film.

(B) Story #TWEETPITCH
Boy starts new
school. Is nervous and shy. Finds Magic Stone, power to control everything.
Meets girl and best friend. Choose between different crowds. Hide powers. #TWEETPITCH
(A) Story Pitch
The hero of
this story is the new nervous student, this is because the story straight away
starts with the nervous new student coming into the school therefore the film
starts with him. I would make the hero appear to be an ordinary boy with a
fairly normal life, but then ends up getting special powers because of
something that happens to him later on once he started the school. The boy
(hero) will dress in ordinary clothes – black t-shirt (not branded) and some
dark blue jeans (nothing unusual). He will be fairly quiet and walk with
slouched shoulders, hand in his pockets.
At the
beginning of the story the situation will be the boy having to change schools and
leave his previous friends in his previous school. He has a father but has no
mother because she died leaving him and his dad lonely with arguments because they
don’t get on (mum used to help in arguments).
When he starts the school he meets a girl and makes best friends with a
nerdy boy who gets bullied and doesn’t have friends, the boy (hero) gets on
okish with the bullies as well though.
The new
opportunity will be he goes off and finds a purple stone which ends up giving
him special powers (to be able to control objects and even people).
The conflict
in the story is he has to choose between being popular with the bullies and
having a lot of girls around, or he can have his best friend the nerd and the
girl he loves only. The other conflict is his powers themselves so that it
doesn’t cause him losing his friend.
The goal Is
to stop his best friend being bullied (after he chooses the best friend and
girl), and also to use his powers correctly so they don’t take over him but he
takes over the powers. His other goal is to make sure that the bullies don’t
get his girl in spite of him. His other goal is to keep his powers hidden (not
from best friend and girl though only).

Top Trump
This is a top trump of myself and my abilities in media production. Although, I did not score myself - Christen Saptou scored me, you can visit her blog by clicking the following link: csaptou.blogspot.com (she sits next to me in media).
"Drive" - Ryan Gosling - Purpose of the Sound Effects
The purpose of sound effects is to build tension and suspense, tension and suspense is built by not knowing the answer to what is doing to happen, and makes you automatically think about the bad things that could happen, not the good things. The film does this ot make you imagine what will haoppen next, your own idea of what will happen, the creator does this to make the audience think and even worry because you automatically think about the bad things (audience thoughts). This also creates the idea that something is going to happen in the audiences mind, by giving the audience information of danger but not knowing it will be ok.
Sound effects from "Drive":
Watch on steering wheel:
The watch on the steering wheel creates tension and suspense because of the ticking noise, because it shows the audience that something is going to happen, but it doesn't tell them what, and makes them Imaging bad things that could happen rather than good things that could happens, a ticking watch also makes an eery atmosphere. This also entertains the audience because of the fact they know something is going to happen.
Police scanner:
The police scanner in the clip builds a lot of tention and suspense because it makes the audience wonder where abouts the police actually are, and makes the audience think about bad things that could happen, and whether or not the police are going to catch them doing the robbery.
Alarm:
The alarm creates tension because it is a loud earpeircing noise and would make the audience jump and watch and worry about what is going to happen, also because it is unexpected it would make people panic about what is going to happen.
Ball game on radio:
The ball game on the radio creates suspense and confusion because it makes the audience wonder why the actor would change the police radio to the ball game, and make them more confused about what is going to happen and whether or not anything is going to happen around the ball game.
Gun shot:
The gun shot is good in the clip because it tells the audience that something terrible is going to happen and connotes that ther is bad and good in the clip. I would also make the audience wonder whether or not there is going to be a death in the clip or whether or not someone is already dead. It also breaks the silence in the clip.
Music:
The music is good in the clip because it establishes the genre in the clip, for instance the gun shot and the police sirens along with the music shows that the film is probably going to be a crime thriller. It also creates a lot of tension in the clip "Drive" because of the type of music that is being played. The music alos shows the tone of the clip and tells the audience that it is a serious film.
Crickets:
The sound of crickets at the beginning to end is a relaxing noise, and soon as that is the only thing you can hear at the beginning it would relax the audience at first but then when all of the other noise breaks out it would make them panic and get more hyped up for the action. Also throughout the clip the crickets get louder and louder which in some aspects adds to the tension.

Misfits Dialogue - analyse characters - Nathan, Gary, Aleisha, Kelly, Curtis, Simon
The purpose of dialogue in a film is to Establish and introduce each character individually so that the audience knows about each character them-self rather than mixing up personalities, It also helps the audience relate to a character in a show because the audience may talk similarly to that character and use the same attitude and vocabulary etc.. It also shows the personality of each character e.g. Chav, Friendly, Criminal etc.. Dialogue shows the background of a character to by exposing their attitude to their class or their voice and accent - whether or not it was good or bad, rough or clean. It can also release their individual back story - the character tells the audience by speaking with dialogue. Dialogue can also set a tone to the programme, and show the genre of the film, whether or not its horror, or comedy. It grabs the attention of the audience via amusing/entertaining the audience.
Nathan:
Tone:
Nathan's Tone is annoying, this is shown by his attitude towards the other characters by his nagging and sarcasm towards them and everything they do or say for instance when he says "Think she likes me" towards Aleisha after she gets off the phone. He also has a very Mischievous tone of voice by the way that he uses his sarcasm towards the others, and how he puts his arm around Gary in a playful, mischievous way. He is also very laid back the way. He is also faux polite (fake polite) "you alright weird kid?", He is also very condescending.
Accent:
Nathan's accent is a Southern Irish (Republican), This sounds very soft and has a music sense of quality to it, as it is very rhythmical. This is also found as vey non-UK classless and also very different compared to the others.
Vocabulary:
Nathan's vocabulary is very volgar and tends to push the boundaries with the others characters in the show. Also the other thing about Nathan is that he doesn't actually swear in this scene. Nathan appears very witty and leads to the audience believing that he is intelligent. He also appears to be very argumentative "but what if we are scum?" (when arguing against the probation officer). He is also very patronising "weird kid" and when he puts his arm around Gary. He also acts very childish towards the other characters - "weird kid", "I think she likes me" and also the way he starts on Gary in particular knowing what Gary is like.
Volume:
Nathan's volume is very clear to understand because he is so laid back and relaxed when speaking, But at the same time he is also loud for he stands out from the rest and makes his voice heard. He also dominates the conversation in the clip because he is the only one that speaks and overtakes everyone else when they speak he always has something to say.
General Description:
Nathan is generally a very confident character this is shown by the excessive talking that he does. He is also very cocky this is shown by the actions that he does when putting his arm round Gary knowing that Gary is an agressive character, also the response he gives to Aleisha when she gets off the phone "think she likes me", and also calling Simon "weird kid". He is also very outspoken because not many of the characters speak over him, he is a Joker because he jokes around with all of the other characters. with comments an actions. He acts immature and very sarcastic the way he responds to the probation worker and also kelly when he says "are we suppose to understand that?" and "that's just a noise". He is annoying towards Kelly and very full on by the way he responds with crude comments to the others with no worry what-so-ever. Relentless, and has to be center of attention this may also connote a sense of insecurity by the way he doesn't take anything serious and makes out that everything is just a joke, possibly showing loneliness.
Gary:
Tone:
Gary's tone is aggressive and violent. He is described as a "born criminal" by Nathan, which shows that he has a bad past and that has a history of violence - probably towards others. He is also very hot headed the way he responds to the others. He also comes across as a gangster style character. He also comes across laid back towards the probation officer because eh acts as if he has been in that situation before and isn't overly bothered about what the probation officer is saying or what the probation officer is doing. He also acts on edge towards the others characters on the show, for instance the way he reacts to Nathan.
Accent:
Gary outs on an american street/UK hip hop accent. He picked up the accent on the street as he looks the type to live on the street. This also creates a violent Image/gangster Image by the way that he speaks.
Vocabulary:
Gary has a very Volga Vocabulary this is shown by the fact that during the scene most of his speech is all swearing and insulting the others for instance when Nathan is messing around with Gray he responds with: "I will rip out your throat and shit down your neck". He also has a very gangster Vocabulary "prick man", this is shown because he refers to Nathan as "man" which is gangster way of talking. Gary has a threatening Vocabulary and shows that he is not afraid to fight and stand up to him self "do it" encouraging a fight.
Volume:
Gary has a loud Volume when he swears or insults someone "fucking pussy man", when saying swear words he also drags the word out "pussy" to make it clear that he is angry and that he isn't afraid to insult someone. Gary is fairly quiet when he isn't starting on someone, and mainly gets loud when insulting. He speaks insults clearly as-well, where as the rest of his speech is mumbled.
General Description:
Gary's general description was described as "born criminal" by Nathan. He is a natural hot headed character and his first reaction is generally to use his fists in a situation that he does not agree with, this would suggest that he has a bad upbringing and has probably gone through a lot when he was younger and throughout his whole life. He is generally aggressive yet he is still quiet though. He reacts to doing community service in a relaxed manner which shows that he has probably been in that situation before, this also shows that he is laid back about committing crimes because h is probably used to it and also the idea of being rough and have people judge him. Gary is also shown as a hot head for it doesn't take much for Nathan to annoy him in the clip.
Aleisha:
Tone:
Aleisha's tone is attitude by the way she responds to the others including the probation officer "thought you'd finished" referring to believing that the probation officer had finishes talking when he hadn't. Se also comes across as a liar because she says she doesn't know the probation officer was speaking when she did and just wanted to speak to her friend on the phone. Her tone is also flirting "Don't be disgusting" which means her friend asked probably whether or not the probation officer was fit which shows the crowd that she hangs around. Her tone is also cocky the way she responds t the probation officer, although she does hang up in the end showing she knows he is in control. Aleisha is also in some aspects not worried about things because she doesn't have much of a response to Nathan and just leaves it after.
Accent:
Aleisha has a clear accent and talks fairly ordinarily. She uses some slang though the way that she speaks by the idea that she doesn't pronounce all of her letters when speaking, she almost sounds as if she is from London and just talks as if she is always with her mates.
Vocabulary:
Aleisha has a foul vocabulary and does use swear words in plain sentences when not needed "boring as fuck". She appears to have street vocabulary as-well because of the way that she doesn't pronounce all of her letters in the words that she uses in her speech.
Volume:
Aleisha's volume is quiet when she speaks but not in a shy way, she is quiet in a girly way, she speaks quite quiet and slow, although she still has attitude in her volume and sometimes raises her voice. Her volume is louder when she comes back at the probation officer, as if she is starting to get angrier so her voice and pitch is raising.
General Description:
Aleisha has a fairly strong social life - this is shown because she is the only person to have her phone ring and she straight away picks it up showing she has friends. Aleisha also likes to look good, this is proven because at the beginning of the clip on the intro she is posing in the mirror and making her self look good and also concentrating on her underwear which can also connote that she likes the idea of boys wanting her and perhaps girls being jealous, for she seems proud of her self image. She also cares about her appearance this is proved by the underwear and jewellery that she wears. Because of the amount of jewellery she has and underwear types it connotes that she isn't poor. Aleisha uses her facial expressions to speak to.
Kelly
Tone:
Kelly's tone is Chavvy the way that she speaks to the others because she uses a lot of attitude, and she uses attitude in everything she says and has a lot of come backs at the ready and knows what she is going to say and what she is going to do. Kelly also has a proud tone to her because she compliments the way that she speaks when Nathan ,makes a comment "just a noise" and insults him after "do you understand that" (putting up middle finger). She also acts chavvy in the aspect she uses her middle finger which is showing her insult rather than just speaking it.
Accent:
Kelly has a Scottish chav accent, which the others find it hard to understand "Are we suppose to understand that?". Kelly's accent is a strong accent which connotes that perhaps Kelly is a strong person.
Vocabulary:
Kelly's Vocabulary connotes that she is a strong person because of her attitude and the ways she doesn't have a fear of coming back with an insult either. She has a rough vocabulary and speaks as if she is from somewhere rough as well because of the way she speaks.
Volume:
Kelly's volume is loud, when she speaks she makes sure each of her words are loud, this may be to help people understand her because she knows that they find it difficult, this could also be to show that she is generally a loud person at hand. She doesn't speak very clear although this is because of her accent and upbringing.
General Description:
Kelly is proud of herself in as far as she knows what she has to say and knows her insults already she already has insults prepared, for when she comes back to Nathan she doesn't have to think about the insults that she is going to give. Also she is a very serious person because throughout the clip she doesn't really smile she keeps a serious frown on her face throughout. She seems to be unhappy with herself as-well though
Curtis:
Tone:
Curtis's tone is arrogant and stuck up "shouldn't be here" - he speaks as if he believes that he is better than the other convicts, even thought he has still been convicted of a crime apparently he still thinks himself to better, this could be because he perhaps is from a higher class, or is used to be centre of attention which is likely because of the idea that Nathan takes control and forces all of the attention on himself. He also has a laid back tone because when the others are talking he is just slouching against the bar not even watching, just day dreaming all most minding his own business.
Accent:
Curtis has a street accent, but speaks fairly ordinarily. He also has a deep voice with his accent which makes him seem hard.
Vocabulary:
Curtis has a clear vocabulary as if he is from the upper class.
Volume:
Curtis has a quiet volume, for when he speaks it is hard to hear him because of how quiet he speaks. Although, Curtis has got a clear voice and volume to, this is because he speaks slowly and pronounces his words well.
General Description:
Simon:
Tone:
Simon's tone is shy and quiet and he keeps to himself, the audience can tell this because during the whole clip he doesn't speak and even when Nathan refers to him as a "weird kid" he still doesn't say anything, he just lets it happen. Simon also acts one edge the way he stands and look sat the other characters.
Accent:
In the clip you cannot tell whether or not Simon has an accent because he doesn't speak through out the whole clip at all.
Vocabulary:
Simon vocabulary isn't shown either because he doesn't speak although by this he probably doesn't have very good vocabulary and id unconformable speaking.
Volume:
Simon's volume is very quiet for he doesn't actually speak one bit.
General Description:
Simon's general description is very quiet and shy and submissive, he comes across submissive to the audience because of when Nathan calls him a "weird kid" he just lets it happen he doesn't stand up for himself at all.
